Utility Rebate Program

 

 

Northern Indiana Public Service Corporation (NIPSCO) offers rebates to residential customers that install energy efficient natural gas appliances in their homes through the Energy Harvest Program. The program is available to all residential NIPSCO natural gas and NIPSCO Choice natural gas customers on rate 311, excluding master metered accounts. Flat rebates are offered for indirect domestic hot water tanks in combination with a natural gas boiler, natural gas boilers, natural gas furnaces, natural gas water heaters (88% thermal efficiency, storage and tankless), and programmable thermostats. In order to be eligible for a rebate, all equipment must meet minimum efficiency and use requirements as specified by the utility.

Builders of new homes are eligible to receive the same rebates as those offered for existing homes if they install qualified equipment. In addition, builders may qualify for an additional $500 - $750 Energy Star Home rebate if new construction meets the designated efficiency and equipment requirements. This rebate is only available for single-family home construction or individually metered multi-family buildings with up to 12 units..

Rebates are available only for equipment installed or homes completed on or after May 1, 2010. Rebate applications for existing homes must be postmarked within 60 days of the installation of qualified products. Applications for new home construction must be postmarked within 90 days of equipment installation or Energy Star certification. Purchases and installations may be subject to verification by the utility, including random inspections.
