The Association of Illinois Electric Cooperatives (AIEC) is providing energy audits and rebates to homeowners served by its 25 member organizations. All homeowners served by an AIEC electric cooperative are eligible for rebates. A residential energy assessment must be performed by the local electric cooperative to identify needed upgrades. Rebates will then be made available based upon on the recommended efficiency improvements. Rebates are available for geothermal heat pumps, air-source heat pumps, central air conditioning, furnaces, water heaters and building insulation. The maximum allowable rebate per homeowner is $1,500. Contact your local electric cooperative to schedule a home energy assessment.

Utility Rebate Program

 

 

Corn Belt Energy Corporation offers a program to promote energy efficiency and renewable energy. Through this program, customers of Corn Belt Energy can receive rebates for geothermal heat pumps (both water to air and water to water), air source heat pumps, central A/C units, natural gas and propane furnaces, water heaters, and insulation. A customer can only apply for a maximum of $1,500 rebate and may only receive a rebate on one HVAC product. Insulation materials may be combined with any other product but may not exceed $1,500. To qualify for a rebate customers must undergo a $25 energy evaluation, however if a homeowner applies for the rebate the $25 fee is refunded. Utility Rebate Program

 

 

Energy efficient heating products purchased and installed between June 1, 2011 and May 31, 2014 are eligible for Nicor Gas rebates. Applications must be postmarked no later than 90 days of the installation, or by June 30, 2014, whichever comes first. Customers can also choose the Instant Discount Option, which provides a reduced discount at point of purchase from a participating contractor.

Low-to-Moderate Income households between 200 and 300 percent of the federal poverty guidelines can also apply for home weatherization and furnace upgrades and analysis of their energy use, resulting in recommendations for which Nicor will honor custom rebates. In addition, owners or residents of multi-family buildings can can learn how to install hot water saving measures in individual living units at no cost to the landlord.

These rebates are in addition to federal tax credits - at 30% of the cost, up to $1,500 - currently available for products purchased and installed in existing homes in 2010. For more details, visit: www.energystar.gov/taxcredits.

Contractors are eligible to attend webinars about Program details, education materials/sales tools and program information, materials to build customer awareness and demand, sales/marketing training workshops, and rebates that customers choose to sign over to the contractor, acting as an instant discount for the customer.

Homeowners, landlords and small business owners are eligible for rebates on energy efficient furnaces and boilers. To qualify, gas furnaces and boilers must be installed by professional contractors. A full list of eligible models and instructions on how to apply for the rebates can be found on the Chicagoland Natural Gas Savings Program website. Applications must be made no later than 60 days after the equipment purchase date.

The Chicagoland Natural Gas Savings Program is funded by customers of Peoples Gas, through a line item on the bill called the Enhanced Efficiency Program. The Program is guided by Peoples Gas, the Citizen's Utility Board, the City of Chicago Department of Environment, the Environmental Law and Policy Center, and the Illinois Attorney General's Office.
